Karen Sokol - Preschool Director
Karen Sokol joined Faith Lutheran Preschool in 1992. For 2 years, she taught three year old children and was then promoted to Pre-K. She currently teaches Kinderbridge. She graduated from Houston Baptist University with a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. Shortly after graduation, she joined Faith Lutheran Preschool. All three of her children went to Faith Lutheran Preschool and Faith Lutheran School up to 2nd or 3rd grade. Kathryn and Chris started at the Preschool when it was located on Highway 6 and then continued along with Sarah at the present location.

Karen has been married for 34 years and has 3 beautiful children. Christopher, is a physical trainer at a gym and still lives in Houston. Kathryn graduated from the University of Houston with a MIS degree. Sarah graduated from Texas A&M with honors in Biology and then proceeded to Pharmacy school. She is in the top five percent of her class.

Karen’s hobbies are quilting, machine embroidery and sewing in general. When she’s not at home, she is usually at the Little Stitches Sewing Center. Karen enjoys teaching preschool immensely and enjoys receiving hugs from the children that she teaches every year. She teaches her students sign language for every letter of the alphabet and by the end of the year her students have learned how to sing and sign the alphabet song. The children also have a bible verse to learn every week that goes with each letter of the alphabet. She really gets excited though when everything finally clicks for the children. She sees those light bulbs go off in their head when all of the parts of a word come together and they are reading.

She was recently appointed Director of Faith Lutheran Preschool. She is completing 100 hours in Business Management through Care Courses which were recommended by our state representative. During the year, she attends in-services and recently completed training on Minimum Standards for the State of Texas.

Trista Jones - Assistant Administrator of Preschool

The 2009 - 2010 school year is the first year Trista Jones has worked in the preschool. She has been a member of Faith Lutheran Church for almost 4 years, along with her husband Kyle of over 15 years and two children: Keegan 9 and Kopeland 6. She currently serves on the Women's Ministry Board and Women of Faith Prayer Ministry. Her family moved from Colorado, where she grew up and were members of Messiah Lutheran Church. She taught preschool for one year. She was a Quality Control Inspector prior to teaching. Her biggest love is watching her children in all their activities and watching the Colorado Avalanche.

Helen Weesner - Teacher Assistant
Helen Weesner has taught at Faith Lutheran Preschool for 11 years and has been a member at Faith Lutheran Church for 32 years. She has been married to John for 57 years and has 3 sons, 5 grandsons and 5 great-grandchildren. Her grandsons and great-grandson have attended Faith Lutheran. In 1996, she helped establish a preschool in Maracay, Venezuela and did other volunteer missionary work for 1 year. She is blessed in the work she does and hopes to continue indefinitely.

Karen Withrow - Music
Karen Withrow is happy to be teaching music again! She taught music at Faith Lutheran Preschool during the 2004 - 2005 school year. Karen and her husband Paul have three children. Their oldest, a daughter, attended Faith Lutheran School from Kindergarten through 8th grade, and is now at Clements High. Their two sons began in Faith Lutheran Pre-K and are currently in the middle school. Karen is a full-time wife and mom and enjoys volunteering at Faith Lutheran, as well as at her home church, Sugar Creek Baptist. She was a preschool choir teacher for 9 years and has taught Preschool Sunday School for the last 15 years. Karen also is an adult leader for Boy Scouts of America for Faith Lutheran’s Troop 992. Karen is a graduate of Dulles High School and has a BS degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a MA degree in Audiology from The University of Texas at Austin (Hook ‘em!).

Denise Hutto
Denise has been teaching at Faith Lutheran Preschool for five years. She has three children of her own; her son is twenty-five and works in sales, and her twin daughters are twenty-three and are still in school. When her children were small, she ran a daycare in her home. She believes it was her calling to work with little children.

Her daughters attended Faith Lutheran Preschool and were very happy there.

Denise thanks God for leading her to Faith Lutheran Preschool and allowing her to teach children about his everlasting love.

Mona Suliman
Mona Suliman has been a member of Faith Lutheran Church for twenty years. Mona and her husband have three children. All three children attended Faith Lutheran Preschool and Elementary School; two graduated from college and the youngest is in high school.

Mona has worked for Faith Lutheran Preschool as a teacher, an office and teacher aide, Extended Care for Middle School and Preschool and Lunch Bunch.

Mona has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Agriculture Cooperation. She attended Houston Graduate School of Theology, studied advanced biblical studies and Christian family counseling and completed two units of pastoral care education at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Now Mona is working for Preschool in Extended Care. Her greatest joy is planting Godly principles at an early age.
