Toni has been a member of Faith Lutheran Church for about twelve years. She is in the final stage of receiving her Ed.D. (Doctor of Education) from Sam Houston State University in Educational Leadership. Her doctoral dissertation is centered around Universal Design for Instruction (UDI), a pedagogical concept based on helping faculty design/re-design curricula to serve a wider range of students with different abilities and backgrounds. She has successfully defended her dissertation and is in the process of completing publication of the document.

Toni is currently developing curriculum for the Houston Community College TLE (Teacher Learning Excellence) Program used as part of staff/faculty development. She is designing a course in UDI to help faculty implement the concept into their discipline of study to promote "best practices" in teaching strategies. The course will be part of CEU credit for faculty. Toni has worked with LCIRT (Landmark College Institute for Research and Training) and CAST (The Center for Applied Special Technology) Research Center to analyze implementation of the UDI concept in a community college setting. She was part of an international summit conducted by LCIRT that focused on an educational paradigm shift that was developed from studying how students learn in our global and technological society.

Toni has taught different levels of students, i.e. elementary, middle school, secondary and college. During her 20 years in education, she has taught at Houston Community College, San Jacinto Community College, Alvin Community College, University of Houston, Art Institute of Houston, Fort Bend ISD and Corpus Christi Elementary and Middle School. The previous 15 years of experience involved broadcast television production and reporting. She holds the position of Operations Manager at HCCTV (Houston Community College Television). She has been in her current position for 13 years.
